DASC has begun a collaborative effort with County Clerks and the Kansas Department of Revenue/Property Valuation Division (KDOR/PVD) across the state to create and verify a statewide tax unit boundary map. Tax units form the building blocks of over 20 different types of local administrative boundaries. A statewide view of this data is of benefit to state, local, and regional organizations and could be particularly useful in emergency management situations.
Historically, County Clerks have submitted Tax Unit certification to KDOR/PVD with a hard copy map and a database update. During 2010, DASC will integrate county tax unit boundary changes and certifications into the statewide tax unit boundary map. The project goal is to have the statewide tax unit boundary map process incorporated into the 2011 County Clerk KDOR/PVD Tax Unit Boundary Certification.
